New in the Metroplex this year – the DFW South Asian Film Festival, Feb. 27-March 1 at the Angelika Film Center, 7205 Bishop Drive in Plano.

The organizers’ description:

The first-ever Dallas-Fort Worth South Asian Film Festival (DFW SAFF) will provide a much-needed platform for independent, world cinema that will appeal to North Texas audiences who enjoy South Asian films.

The three-day festival will showcase 14 curated shorts, documentaries and feature films that focus on issues affecting the South Asian (India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) sub-continent, as well as explore the lives and stories of the South Asian Diaspora in the United States.

The festival will include Texas and U.S. premieres, after-parties, a red carpet, filmmaker Q&A’s and much more. There is something for everyone as our programming includes dramas, thought-provoking shorts and documentaries, women’s issues, LGBT films, children’s and youth programming and more.
