The Modern and Contemporary Asian Art Evening Sale will showcase a series of six masterpieces by modern Chinese master Wu Guanzhong. Spanning from the 1970s to the 1990s, this collection of paintings includes Plum Blossoms, brimming with a vivid sense of spring, the lush and spirited Riverside Bamboos, the vibrantly soaring A Mountain of Colours and Autumn onto the Wall, together offering a retrospective survey of the artist’s creative landmarks.

Comprised of more than 50 exceptional 20th-century and contemporary works from across Asia and Southeast Asia, the sale will present a series of six masterpieces by Wu Guanzhong, spanning the 1970s through 1990s. Taken together, Plum Blossoms, Riverside Bamboos and Autumn onto the Wall offer an exceptional tour of the artist’s creative milestones. Rare contemporary Asian works new to the market are also offered: Fang Lijun’s archetypal bald-headed figures 1996.4; Blue Sea, one of Liu Ye’s earliest symbolic depictions of warships; and Takashi Murakami’s Panda Geant. A selection of Southeast Asian works will emphasize the unique identities at the heart of the region’s creative metamorphosis, highlighting Hendra Gunawan’s work Pandawa Dadu.
